Why do my lights flicker when the air conditioner starts?

Why does my outlet spark when I plug something in?
A tiny blue flash can be normal. A spark every time, a yellow or lingering spark, scorch marks, or a burning smell means loose wiring, a worn receptacle, or a short, and that outlet should stay unused until it is checked.
Why are plugs falling out of my wall outlet?
